Teens and Sex.

What are your thoughts on these results? Do you believe them or not based on your experience and here at CHS? What does CHS need to do to educate and prevent these statistics from being so high?

On average, girls are losing their virginity at 15 years of age.14 percent of teens who are having sex say they’re doing it at school.52 percent of survey respondents say they do not use protection when having sex.One in three says she fears having a sexually transmitted disease.24 percent of teens with STDs say they still have unprotected sex.One in five girls says she wants to be a teen mom.About 50 percent acknowledge that they’ve hit someone. One out of three teens has tried drugs.

These results do not come as a shock to me. Girls are having sex at a younger age every year. Douglas is a small town, so I don't know many people with STDs. I don't know much about people having unprotected sex with STDs, but I think its pathetic. I don't understand how you could have sex, get a disease from it, and not care about giving it to others. That is so sad. I also don't understand how young girls could look forward to being teen moms. You shouldn't just not care, and plan for it. I think the girls who want to be teen moms are immature and want nothing in life. But, I do have a few friends that have had a baby during high school, but they didn't plan on getting pregnant. That's different. I could go on for days talking about this. I think fighting is ridiculous. There are many fights at our school. Most of them are over the most ridiculous things.

Confidentiality.

What do you think about knowing your friends' passwords -- school login, myspace, email, etc? Would you share your information with anyone else? What are the risks involved?
It doesn't really matter to me. Laken knows my password to everything- myspace, my email, etc. I don't care. She's my best friend, so I don't feel like I need to hide anything from her. She knows everything about me, anyway. I don't think there are any risks involved with her knowing my passwords. I trust her a lot. She even knows my pin number to my debit card. =]

ELLEN PAGE!

Today's blog is a free write.

So, Ashley and I decided that we were going to write about our favorite celebrities next time we had a free write. Ellen Page is my favorite. She is great, a very strong individual, and an amazing actress. She is, to me, the best actress ever. She is best known for her role in Juno. It is one of my favorite movies. I've actually seen it more than 5 times. It's hilarious. Ellen was born on February 21, 1987 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She has a dog named Patti, named after one of her idols, Patti Smith. In 2007, she won an Academy Award for Best Actress for starring in the movie Juno. I love her!

Jonestown Massacre.

In Jonestown, Guyana, more than 900 - men, women and children- followed the call of Rev. Jim Jones and his Peoples Temple. Jones was a charismatic speaker and preacher. He came under scrutiny in the early 1970s after allegations surfaced that he punished his church members severely. He left the San Francisco Bay Area with hundreds of his followers promising them a self-ruled tropical paradise in the small South African Nation. Jones became more autocratic and obsessed with the loyalty of his followers.

When Rep. Leo Ryan arrived in Guyana to investigate the claims of abuse, many of the members of Peoples Temple begged to return to the United States with him. A separate group of Jones' followers killed the congressman and four others. After hearing about the killings, Jones convinced many of his followers to kill themselves to avoid punishment that should follow. Those that resisted were shot, strangled, or injected with cyanide. Jones committed suicide by shooting himself in the head.

Did you go to the game? What are your thoughts on the game and the rest of the playoff season?
I did not go to the game, but I wanted to! I had to work all weekend. I was so excited when I found out we won the game. I'm very proud of our football team. They have worked very hard this season. I hope we win the next game.

My Own Business.

If you could start your own business tomorrow, what would it be?
I would want many businesses of my own. I would love to own my own day spa and salon. I would also like to own my own gym.

Grandmother giving birth to her grandchildren.

CLEVELAND (AP) -- A 56-year-old woman who gave birth to her triplet granddaughters a month ago is recovering from a Caesarean section and hopeful that one of the girls will be home from the hospital by Saturday.

I think this is great. She is a very special person for doing this for her daughter. It's a terrible thing when someone isn't able to have children. I also think its so cool that she was able to have healthy triplets at her age. The babies are very lucky to have her as a grandmother. They have a weird story to look forward to when they get older.

Veterans Day.

Veteran's Day. What is it? Why is it such an important day for you and others?

Veterans Day is an annual American holiday honoring military veterans. It is both a federal and and a state holiday in all states. It is observed on November 11, the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I. Hostilities were ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918. I think its important to honor those who have fought for our country. Its a major holiday in my family, because most male members of my family are in the military or have served in the military.

My Weekend.

My weekend was very boring. Friday, my friends and I took my little brother to the fair. It was so much fun. We rode the Ring of Fire a million times. Then, Laken and I rode some flipping ride and it gave me a terrible headache. After the fair, we took Baily home and we all went over to Maci's and hung out. Saturday, we were lazy ALL day. We woke up, ate breakfast, and laid in the bed and watched movies. Then, around 3, Maci's mom made us get up and go to Valdosta with her. We went to the mall, then went to eat at Ryan's. We finally came back to Douglas, and went back to Maci's and watched more movies. Sunday, we slept late, and did nothing. =] Later that evening, we went to eat dinner at Laken's house. Then, everyone went home. I'm so sleepy. I think I got too much sleep this weekend, if that's possible.

50!

This is blog #50. You are halfway to 100. :) What do you think your life will be like when you are 50?
I like to think about my future. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be pretty awesome. =] I'll probably be a grandmother, and be married. I hope my life is as great as it is now. I can't wait.

Dream Car.

If you could buy any vehicle you wanted today regardless of price or availability, what would it be?
I'm not sure if I have a dream car. I'm not very picky. I really want a Honda Civic for graduation. That's what my parents are looking into. I really like that car. So, I guess that would have to be my dream car. They are really good on gas, also.

Election 2008.

What are your thoughts on the electoral vote? Is it a fair system?
For example, since McCain won in Georgia, the votes of those in Georgia that voted for Obama didn't count. The same goes for those in Virginia that voted for McCain.

I'm not really sure if its fair or not. I don't think it really matters. Nothings going to change. Its been this way forever. This is how the presidents have been elected for years. I'm so glad this election is finally over. I was so sick of hearing about it. I hate candidates think you have to be negative towards your running mates to get votes. Its ridiculous. That automatically turns me away from being involved in politics. I dislike cruelty and rudeness greatly.

Free Write.

I guess I will just ramble, since this is a free write. Hmm.. So, my weekend was lots of fun. Friday was Halloween, and we had to dress up at work. It was so crazy. I dressed up as the Twister game. Everyone else was scary looking. My managers were the scariest. After work, I went to a Halloween party with Laken and Maci. After the party, we went home. Saturday, we decided to go to Jesup with our friends. It was great. We got there and had so much fun. We always meet cool new people. Sunday, we had to go to a funeral, which was very sad. I dislike funerals so much. They are so sad. Anyway, thats how my weekend went. Today is election day. I'm pretty sure this is going to be the craziest day of the week. Everyone seemed really hyper this morning. I hope it doesn't get too out of hand.
